About Carolyn Williams
I grew up in Dixon, Kentucky, a rural community with a population of 552 people. In 1979, I graduated with honors from my high school class of 150 students. After graduation, I enrolled at Western Kentucky University, where I majored in Management with a minor in Military Science. In May of 1983, I graduated Magna Cum Laude. In that same month, I was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the regular U.S. Army. I served on active duty for 4 years from 1983-1987.
I married in December 1983. After leaving the Army, I worked at assorted jobs, had 3 children, and was a stay-at-home mom for 20 years. I prepared our personal taxes for years during that time.
September 2001, I took the H&R Block Basic Course. Thus began my career of individual income tax preparation. I spent nine years with H&R Block. During that time, I taught both beginning and advanced tax courses, served as office manager, and earned the title Senior Tax Advisor III.
I left H&R Block and spent a year with Professional Tax Service before my entrepreneurial spirit led me to buy into a franchise (Eagle Tax Service). Exactly three years later, my office lease was up, and Eagle Tax Service was sold to a company on the East Coast. A coworker and I took the business to a home office for the next four years. After he retired, I went back to Professional Tax Service.
Just as I had always wanted to prepare taxes, I also wanted to learn more about financial coaching. I gathered information and became a student of Financial Peace University. It is a great program, and I was eager to learn more. In 2017, I completed Financial Coach Master Training. I did some coaching, but most of my energy went toward income tax preparation.
Fast forward to 2025-2026. I loved preparing taxes. I loved “my people”. I never thought I would ever stop preparing taxes. But my heart changed. I wanted to help more people find financial freedom from debt. With taxes, I saw the results of uninformed decisions made by good, well-intentioned people. I want to help people who are living with the consequences of misinformation or a lack of good information and guidance. My training puts me in a good position to help people find ways to take care of problems that seem impossible.
